Israeli Ambassador reaffirms commitment to strengthen ties with Ghana
The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Roey Gilad, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening diplomatic, economic and security relations with Ghana.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday [September 26, 2025]. Gilad used the platform to explain Israel’s security concerns and the importance of international understanding of its actions.
“People in Ghana are used to huge countries. Israel is ten times smaller. If we make one mistake, it might be our last mistake,” he said, emphasizing why security remained a top priority for his country.
He explained that Israel’s ongoing operations in Gaza were part of a wider effort to secure the state against Hamas militants who on October 7, 2023, attacked and killed 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped 251 people.
Gilad suggested that strengthening partnerships with African countries like Ghana was key to countering misinformation about the conflict. “We want our friends and partners in Africa to know the truth about why we fight and what we stand for, not just what is shown on TV,” he said.
He also indicated that cooperation in areas such as technology, agriculture and security would continue to expand. “Our relationship with Ghana is an important one, and we look forward to building on it,” Gilad noted.
