Kuapa Kokoo provides free bikes to schoolchildren

A union of cocoa buyers in the Ashanti Region, Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union, has extended a lifeline to school-age children of cocoa farmers in five districts in the Western Region who walk long distances to school, by presenting them with 100 bicycles  The Union has provided 100 bicycles to be distributed among the children who travel long distances on foot to attend school.

The bicycles were presented at a ceremony at Dadieso in the Western Region and marked the start of a pilot project in which school-age children of cocoa farmers in deprived areas would be supplied with bicycles to enable them easily journey to their schools. 

The project dubbed, ‘’Kuapa Sukuu Sakrele’,  is to be expanded to capture more school children in other cocoa growing regions of the country Ghana after the pilot. Its broad objective is to   promote the education of children of Kuapa Kokoo farmers.
