Kwesimintsim Hospital receives hospital materials

Tetra Netherlands Bv, an oil service company, has presented a quantity of hospital materials valued at GH¢15,000 to the management of the Kwesimintsim Hospital in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis in the Western Region.

The equipment included babies and children weighing scales, stethoscope, surgical gloves, catheter, dressing forceps, nebulising machine, blood giving set, chronic suture, sterilising drums, episiotomy,  scissors and sphygmomanometer.

Corporate social responsibility

The donation of the items followed a needs assessment research conducted by the company which showed that the facility was in dire need of them, and as part of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility for 2014.

In 2013, the company, which provides filtration and clean-up services, made a similar donation to an orphanage called Father's Home in the metropolis at a cost of GH¢6,000.

Mr Martin Johnston, the Operations Engineer of the company, said his outfit believed that the provision of the materials would go a long way to aid doctors and nurses in the performance of their duties.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Ernest Anderson, expressed the hope that the items would be used to improve on the delivery of health services not only for the Kwesiminstim community but other communities as well.

He said the provision of valuable hospital equipment should not be left to the government alone to handle, but ought to be a shared responsibility. He urged resourceful individuals and groups to assist in this direction.   

Dr Anderson expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the management and staff of the company for the kind gesture. He gave an undertaking that the items would be put to good use.
