Man butchers JHS girl over sex
A man believed to be in his forty's has allegedly butchered a 19-year-old Junior High School girl at Debrahkrom near Koforidua.
The suspect, Kwaku Maanu, is said to have butchered the victim after she refused to have sex with him.
Kwaku Maanu is currently on the run and the New Juaben Police Command has mounted a search for his arrest.
The victim, Mabel Okyere, who is a JHS one pupil at Ellen White Basic School, is on admission at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
The girl's mother Maame Ama kyerewaa told the Graphic Online that at about 1am Friday dawn, she heard her daughter shouting for help.
She then rushed to her room and found the suspect, Kwaku Manu butchering her daughter because she had refused to have sex with him.
According to her after shouting for help and none of the neighbours coming out, she tried herself to seize the suspect's hands but he was too strong for her.
"He hit and pushed me on the floor with his elbow and ran away," she said.
She said a few minutes later some neighbours quickly called the police who rushed the victim to the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
According to the girls' mother the suspect is not her daughter's boyfriend.
He was living together with Maame Ama Kyerewaa and her household and serving as errand boy for the family.
She offered to accommodate him for six months because he had no place to stay and had come to beg for a place to stay.
Maame Ama Kyerewaa admitted that Kwaku Manu had been exhibiting weird attitude as threatening to kill Mabel and any other person who tried to offend him.
She disclosed that the suspect is an ardent alcoholic and a smoker.
