At the presentation on Thursday at the conference room of the centre in Accra, Madam Christina Sika Essiem, worship committee chairperson of the school, said the gesture was in response to an SOS call.

She noted that the pupils, who contributed the amount through offerings during worship and praise moments in the school over a period of time, were concerned about the plight of the sick at the centre.

According to her, it was a moment of profound felicitation for the children as they gave out their widow’s mite in support of  the centre.

Dr Kow Entsua-Mensah, a surgeon at the centre, and Mrs Peace Asante, Deputy Director of Nursing Services, received the money and items on behalf of the centre.

Dr Entsua-Mensah expressed the centre’s gratitude to the pupils and called on other members of the society to do same.

Over 20 pupils of the school visited the centre, the Children’s Ward and admission blocks of the hospital to acquaint themselves with conditions there.
