New rest stop opens at Nustam

Tourism in the Eastern Region has received a boost following the establishment of an ultra-modern rest stop along the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Nsutam in the Fanteakwa District.

The facility is the joint effort between two oil companies: Cash Oil Company and Gat Oil Company.

Known as the Paradise Resort, the facility was put up with financing from the National Investment Bank (NIB) and is positioned to provide hospitality services, particularly for people travelling upcountry as well as serve as a centre where people could meet a serene environment to discuss business.

The resort currently employs about 300 young people drawn mainly from the Fanteakwa District.

The Chief Executive Officer of Media Excel Productions, Mr Ernest Kwesi Ennin, who spoke on behalf of management of the rest stop, said the facility was put up through the instrumentality of Messrs Castro Mediale and Emmanuel Gati, owner of Cash Oil Company Limited and Gat Oil Company Limited, respectively.

He said the facility was not owned or financed by any member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as was being speculated by some radio stations and political figures.

There have been discussions in the media lately, particularly on radio morning talk shows, to the effect that the Paradise Resort at Nsutam and near the Bunso Junction belonged to a leading member of the ruling NDC.

Under the circumstances, he said, management of Paradise Resort “urges the general public and all media organisations engaged in this highly malicious activity of peddling falsehood about the resort to refrain forthwith.”

Mr Ennin urged the media to use circumstances such as the inception of Paradise Resort to promote domestic businesses and encourage more investments into the country instead of using their platform to run down enterprises established through hard work.
