Pastor, friend assault 2 women
Two persons, including the founder and senior pastor of the Living in Christ Mission Church at Kpobiman, have been charged before the Amasaman Magistrate Court ‘B’ for assaulting two women.
Daniel Doe, 33, pastor, and Bismark Kwabena Doe, 23, mason are both residents of Kpobiman, a suburb of Accra .
They were granted bail in the sum of GH¢500 with two sureties each.
The facts of the case were that about six weeks go, Bismark borrowed two plates, a spoon, and a knife from one of the complainants , Margaret Ofosu Hemaa, but failed to return the items after persistent demands .
According to the prosecutor, Sgt F.A Ansah, Hemaa, therefore, asked the second complainant, Fosua, to accompany her to the church premises to recover her items.
The Prosecutor said while Fosua was waiting at a distance for Hemaa to retrieve her items, Bismark was infuriated and kicked Fosua and she fell to the ground . Fosua’s scream for help drew the attention of her friend who went to her aid.
Sgt Ansah said Daniel, who was nearby watching the whole incident also put his fingers into Fosua’s right eye.
He said following the assault, the two women reported the case to the police and they were issued with a medical form to attend hospital for treatment.
The prosecutor said after investigations, Daniel and Bismark were charged with the offence before the court.
The case took an interesting twist in Fosua’s evidence before the court.
She said before Daniel assaulted her, he called her a prostitute and other names.
When asked by the counsel for Daniel why such names would be used on her by a pastor, she told the court that prior to the incident, Daniel had invited her to his house at about 12 midnight one day to give her directions on a revelation he had about her.
She said Daniel explained that the direction was to sleep with her but being a married woman, she refused.
Fosua said though Daniel tried to force her she resisted the attempt.
She said she did not report the case to the police because Daniel pleaded with her on several occasions not to do so.
Fosua said she reported the incident to her husband who was then away on a business trip but she had since ceased to be a member of his church.
Hearing continues on November 18, 2014
