Student of St Louis raped on campus
There is growing fear among students of the St Louis Senior High School (SHS) at Oduom in the Oforikrom municipality in the Ashanti Region after one of their colleagues was raped on campus last Saturday, August 22, 2020.
The alleged incident occurred late in the evening at about 10:30 p.m..
The intruder is said to have dragged the student, who was studying in one of the classrooms, into a nearby teak plantation on the campus and raped her.

Before dragging her into the bush, he is also alleged to have subjected her to severe beatings for trying to resist.
No arrest has been made yet.
St Louis SHS is a Catholic all-girls secondary school located on the Ejisu-Kumasi Highway.

The Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Godwin Ahianyo, who confirmed the incident to the Daily Graphic, believed that the perpetrator might have scaled the school’s fence wall to commit the crime.
He said the victim, who is traumatised by the incident was sent to the hospital for treatment and had since been discharged.
According to him, the perpetrator dragged the student from the classroom into the teak plantation, which is close to the classroom block and raped her and abandoned her afterward.
He said the final year student sustained some wounds as a result of the beating she received at the hands of the rapist.

Investigation
Mr Ahianyo said investigations were underway to arrest the perpetrator. According to him, the perpetrator must be someone who knew the vicinity quite well to be able to commit such a crime and suspects that he might be someone who lives in the area.
