The Central Regional Minister, Mr Acquinas Tawiah Quansah, who did the presentation, said considering it that technological infrastructure had become an essential component in education, the government was working to make sure the sector was well resourced.

He said the government would provide more laptops to schools in the rural areas, to ensure that they were also  abreast of latest developments.

Mr Quansah added that the government intended to provide solar-powered laptops to schools in communities that were not connected to electricity.

He urged the teachers who got the computers to use them for research and other academic purposes and desist from using them for purely private matters.

He urged the Ghana Education Service (GES) to establish service centres in the region with well-trained staff and technicians who would provide professional backup services for the teachers.

The Acting Director General of the GES, Mr Jacob Kor, charged teachers to be innovative in their teaching and use the laptops to improve on their teaching methods.
