The arrests follow an inspection by the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) which discovered significant portions of the Kpeshie Lagoon area, within the La Dade-Kotopon municipality, had been filled and structures were under construction.

Speaking to reporters, REGSEC Chairman, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover confirmed the arrests were intended to identify the masterminds behind the encroachment.

"We apprehended some workers," he explained, "but they claim to have been hired by others. The police will now investigate and determine who authorised this activity."

Mr. Titus-Glover further stated that any unauthorised structures would be demolished. "The one closest to the Kpeshie Lagoon will be the first to come down," he said, pointing to specific structures. "We will also demolish the one under construction near the lagoon's edge and the one close to the shooting range itself."

The REGSEC Chairman urged the public to come forward with information regarding the sale of the land.

"Our traditional authorities have denied any involvement in land sales within the shooting range," he highlighted. "We want to know who is responsible for selling this land illegally."
