The five-member board was sworn in after taking the oath of office and the oath of secrecy administered by the Head of Legal of the Jospong Group of Companies, Mrs Gloria Benneh.

The trustees are Dr Rose Mensah-Kutin, the Executive Director of Abantu for Development as the Board Chair, Mrs Florence Larbi, the Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr Ishmael Edjekumhene, the Director of KITE (a wholly Ghanaian NGO), Mrs Sarah Kyei, the Coordinator of the Foundation and Mr Fred Amoah, Partner, Double Entry Management Consult.

Support ZLF

In his address, Mr Agyepong urged the board to bring their rich experiences from their various fields of endeavours to bear in order to support the vision and mission of the ZLF.

He said it was the cherished value and commitment of Zoomlion/Jospong Group of Companies to give back to the society through capacity building, environmental education and donation to vulnerable groups, and added, “ It is against this background that Zoomlion has been established.”

Additionally, he said, the company had also established the Zoomkids Club Project, which is a hygiene and sanitation project operating in basic schools in Ghana to create environmental awareness among the young and old.

That, he said, was to help inculcate in the children the sense of the benefits of good sanitary practices and the habit to uphold cleanliness, which has the capacity to put them in positions where they could influence behavioural change in their families, schools and the larger community.

Mr Agyepong, therefore, urged the new board to support the staff of the foundation to inculcate good sanitary habits in children and ensure littering was prevented to avoid perennial flooding.

In her remarks, the Board Chair, Dr Mensah-Kutin, said members were committed to contributing their quota to promote environmental sanitation management in the country.

She also pledged to assist in whatever way she could to advance the cause of the foundation.

Vision and mission

The Coordinator of ZLF , Mrs Sarah Kyei, said the foundation was the corporate social responsibility wing of the Zoomlion/Jospong Group of Companies.

“The vision of the foundation is to leave a sustainable environment for future generations and enhance socio-economic transformation. Its mission is to inspire children and the youth to be champions of good environmental practices and to invest in communities,” she said.
