Akufo-Addo leads ECOWAS Election Observation Mission to Benin

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will lead the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the forthcoming presidential election in Benin.

The elections are scheduled for April 12, 2026.

A statement issued by the Office of the former President said President Akufo-Addo would lead a carefully balanced and multidisciplinary delegation drawn from across Member States and made up of diplomats, electoral experts and representatives of national electoral commissions.

The rest are members of the ECOWAS Parliament and the Council of the Wise, as well as officials from the ECOWAS Court of Justice.

It said former President Akufo-Addo would arrive in Cotonou on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 and return to Accra on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
