NDC ProForum to hold diaspora reset engagement
The Professional Forum (ProForum) of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to work closely with Ghana's missions abroad to connect with the country's diaspora community.
The aim is to leverage the expertise and resources of Ghanaians living abroad to drive the country's economic development.
As part of the initiative, the United Kingdom and Europe branch of the ProForum is set to host a Diaspora Reset Engagement Conference (DREC) in Birmingham, UK, in November 2025.
The three-day event, under the theme: "Connecting Global Talent to Local Transformation," aims to bring together thought leaders, professionals, policymakers and business community representatives from the UK, Europe and Ghana.
Speaking on the upcoming event, the Convenor of the ProForum UK and Diaspora, Kenneth Johnson, said the meeting was critical as the NDC government sets out to reset the country and bring the economy back on track.
He said the conference would feature keynote addresses, expert panels and sector-based discussions on governance, investment, youth empowerment, and diaspora policy.
Thanks and Brunch Session.
"This year's DREC is more than a conference-it's a collective reset.” he said.
Engagement
Mr Johnson said the three-day engagement was being held in collaboration with the Ghana High Commission, UK and is expected to focus on building stronger partnerships between the Ghanaian diaspora and institutions back home.
He added that the DREC 2025 seeks to highlight the strategic role of Ghanaians abroad in driving innovation, investment, and development, while promoting unity and a renewed sense of purpose within the Ghanaian community.
