NPP suspends 56 members in Tatale-Sanguli Constituency
Fifty-Six members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tatale-Sanguli Constituency in the Northern Region have been suspended for allegedly working against the interest of the party in the 2024 Presidential and parliamentary elections.
They are said to have worked for an independent candidate to the extent of being party agents, worked for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, and spread falsehood against the NPP candidate.
In a letter dated January 15, 2024, and addressed to the National Chairman of the NPP, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, the Tatali-Sanguli Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Kpachin Nambu, said after careful consideration and review of the evidence available, it was determined that their actions violated the values of the party.
Decision
“Article (3) clause (7)(1) of the NPP Constitution states that a member of the party who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the party or joining or declaring his or her support for another political party or for an independent candidate when the party has sponsored a candidate in the general or by-election automatically forfeits his or her membership,” he stated.
Mr Nambu said the decision served as a reminder to all members of the importance of upholding the values and principles of the party.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to building a strong and effective political organisation that represents the interests of the constituents.
