Nana Boateng, a first-timer MP, is expected to be challenged by two other personalities, namely Dr Samuel Annor, a former Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, and Nana Osei Agyei, an activist of the party.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic after picking the forms, Nana Boateng said: "I am ready for the competition since I have an unfinished business."

He said most of the constituents would feel disappointed should he refuse to contest again because they still had confidence in him to lead them in pursuit of their development needs.

Explaining why he was going to win the primaries, Nana Boateng said his good works alone were ample evidence for the delegates to give him the nod.

"I believe my good rapport with the delegates, coupled with other attributes, gives me the upper hand in the contest," he said.

Among these, he said, were the renovation of the nurses’ quarters at Jumapo, the Suhyen Community Centre, the completion of the Effiduase Community Centre and construction of a three-unit classroom block at Oyoko.

He called on the other contestants to go about their campaigns with decorum since he was going to do same.

Handing over the forms to Nana Boateng, the Constituency Secretary of the party, Dr Edward Asante-Antwi, admonished him and his opponents to endeavour to stay united despite the fact that they were competitors.

He said the NPP was bigger than any individual and, therefore, nothing untoward must be done to disturb the internal cohesion of the party.

Dr Asante-Antwi expresed the hope that after the contest, both the winners and losers would join hands to campaign for the party to win power come 2016.
