The Vice Chairman of the Committee on Roads and Transport, Mr Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, told the Daily Graphic that the meeting  was “fruitful” and that the minister had provided the answers the two committees had sought.

He said the two committees would meet tomorrow with the Minister of Education and officials of the University of Ghana, Legon to hear their side of the story.

“After that we will present our report to the Speaker,” he said. He declined to make any further comments, except to say that the committees would take steps to ensure that such occurrences were not repeated by other organisations.

The collection of tolls by the university for the use of its roads has generated controversy in the past few days.

On Tuesday, the issue was raised on the floor of Parliament and the Deputy Speaker, Mr Ebo-Barton-Odro, who was in the chair, directed the two committees to look into the matter and report back to Parliament.
