Kotoko draw with Aduana

Aduana Stars yesterday put up a spirited performance to hold Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to the disappointment of the sizeable crowd, which thronged the venue to cheer the Porcupine Warriors.

Buoyed by their last two games, Kotoko came into the match as the favourites and were expected to carry the day to keep alive their dreams of annexing the league title alive.

However, they were  frustrated by Aduana goalkeeper, Joseph Addo, incidentally a former goal tender of the Porcupine Warriors, who displayed brilliance on two occassions (40th and 75th minutes) to deny the homesters, as he stretched to his elastic limit to save very dangerous situations.

It was indeed an action packed game without a dull moment from the blast of Referee Arhin Maxwell Mcloud’s whistle and was only interrupted with free kicks and delay tactics employed by the visiting team.

Kotoko put the ball at the back of the net  through midfielder Stephen Nyarko but the joy of their supporters was shortlived when  Assistant Referee Two, Ben Samari, raised his flag, ruling it offside.

The referee, who did not see the flag earlier pointed to the centre line only to turn around to see his linesman with his flag up Referee Mcloud was compelled to reverse his decision after earlier pointing at the spot.

The decision did not go down well with the fans who besieged the exit point of the stadium apparently to vent their spleen on the referee after the match.
