Gov't flies $200K cash to Kigali to pay Black Stars bonuses

The Ministry of Sports is reported to have carried a sum of $200,000 in cash on a plane to Rwanda to pay the Black Stars for beating the Amavubi in the Afcon 2017 qualifier at the weekend.

The problem with this action is that it flies in the face of well-publicised recommendations from the Justice Senyo Dzamefe Commission set up to look into the 2014 World Cup debacle - the same fiasco predicated on the flight of over $3 million from Accra to Brasilia in cash.

Tawiah, Constance win Kal Tire Golf Open

William Tawiah and Constance Awuni won the KAL Tire 2015 Open Golf tournament held at the Damang Golf Club last weekend.

Tawiah won the men's group 'A' trophy with a handicap of  2 as he got 77 net to win the day, while Paul Abu, also from Damang, had 79 net to finish second and Rowland Yankey from Ankobra Golf and Country Club, Bogoso, came third with 80 net.

Akufu wins Homowo Cycling tourney

Frank Akufu of the Velo Stars Cycling Club last Saturday saw off competition from 65 riders to clinch this year's Homowo Cycling tournament in Accra.

Akufu, 18, won the race with a blistering finish, completing the 79-kilometre course in a time of 2 hours, 13 minutes to beat Peter Osei of Sunyani-based River Park Cycling Club and Issack Sackey of Club Sky Team to second and third places respectively.

All Africa Games: Black Spikers lose again

The female Black Spikers woes continue to deepen in the ongoing All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo, as they lost 1-3 to Seychelles in their third volley match at the Henry Ellende Gymanasium.
