Revenge: Richard Commey targets rematch with Easter Jr

Lightweight contender Richard Commey says he has “unfinished business” with IBF champion Robert Easter Jnr and is hopeful that his new three-year promotional contract with DiBella Entertainment will earn him a second shot at a world title against his American foe soon.

Commey wants another shot at the world title and a chance to avenge his first career loss after Easter Jr won a 12-round split decision when they fought for the IBF title at the Santander Arena in Pennsylvania last September.

Commey signs with DiBella Ent, eyes Alejandro Luna eliminator

The IBF has ordered two world title elimination fights to produce mandatory challengers for its belts at lightweight and junior lightweight.

On Thursday, it ordered Alejandro Luna and Richard Commey, the leading available contenders according to the organization's rankings, to meet for the right to become the mandatory challenger for the 135-pound world title held by Robert Easter Jr.

Dogboe’s date with destiny as he fights Chacon tonight

Tonight at the Bukom Boxing Arena, one of Ghana’s elite fighters, Isaac Dogboe, will have a date with destiny when he seeks for a WBO International super bantamweight title shot via a final eliminator with Argentine Javier Nicolas Chacon.

The Management and staff of Liberty Group last Saturday held its annual games at the Burma Camp Sports Complex in Accra.

GBA storms Fetu Afahye with title belts

This year’s Oguaa Fetu Afahye promises to be exceptional and memorable following the decision by the president of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Lawyer Peter Zwennes, to stage a boxing bill with three national title belts at stake.

The Central Regional GBA President, Mr Twintoh Walker, who doubles as the chairman of the National GBA Regional Outreach Committee, told the Daily Graphic that the promotion would be a departure from the situation where all boxing promotions were usually centred in Accra, hence a directive by Mr Zwennes to all national title holders to prepare to defend their titles anywhere in the country.

32-year-old records shattered at Upper West Interco

The 32-year-old cross-country records set in the Male Division and the Girls 1,500 metres were shattered during the 31st biennial Super Zonal Sports Festival of the Upper West Region (UWR) Schools and Colleges which ended at Jirapa last Saturday.

The records, which were broken in grand style, had all first three athletes in both categories walking over the old records.

Badminton: 16 For Nigeria tourney

Sixteen athletes, made up of 10 men and six women, last Tuesday began residential camping at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to prepare adequately for the Nigeria International Badminton competition slated for Lagos from July 26 to 29.
