Ethiopia, Princesses last hurdle to clear
Ghana's Under-20 female football team, the Black Princesses will travel to Adis Ababa this week to face their Ethiopian counterparts in the final round of the 2016 Women's World Cup (WWC) qualifiers.
While the Princesses beat Equatorial Guinea 3-0 on aggregate to reach this point, Ethiopia advanced at the expense of Burkina Faso on a 2-0 aggregate.
The Princesses leave for Adis Ababa tomorrow, hoping to put up a splendid performance to get a result that will ease the pressure when they host the second and final leg in two weeks for the Papua New Guinea 2016 tournament.
This will be the first time that the paths of the two sides will cross in these qualifiers, and it could be the toughest test yet for the Princesses who are seeking to make their fourth successive appearance at the U-20 WWC since making their debut in 2010.
With the stakes so high in this tie, Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani says his side will be more careful in their approach to the game, stressing that their game plan as they head for the high altitude city will be to fight for a favourable result.
"At this point, the game plan is to get a good result. Any result apart from a loss will be our target. The Ethiopians are good and could be our toughest test yet, but we will prepare well for them to ensure that our dream to qualify for Papua New Guinea is not derailed," Dramani told the Graphic Sports.
Dramani will travel to Adis Ababa with 18 players, most likely, the nucleus of the team that beat Equatorial Guinea 2-0 in Kumasi two weeks ago, making it.
