GFA to launch 'Girls for Goals' programme in Keta Tuesday

The Ghana Football Association (GFA), under the leadership of Deputy General Secretary (Admin), Ama Brobey-Williams, will officially launch the Girls for Goals programme on Tuesday, November 26, at the Keta Business School in the Volta Region.

Girls for Goals is a 9-month empowerment initiative designed to promote gender equality through sports, education, and healthy lifestyles, aiming to inspire young girls to realize their full potential.

The programme will offer training and mentorship to both girls and boys, ages 10 to 18, focusing on football and other sports activities.

It also aligns with the GFA's broader development program, which seeks to foster grassroots football and encourage greater participation in the sport through various outreach efforts.

In line with the GFA's commitment to promoting women’s football, the Girls for Goals programme is a key step in empowering girls through sports.

“The Girls for Goals initiative is a crucial part of our mission to advance women’s football and provide girls with the tools and support to excel,” said Ama Brobey-Williams.

“We believe every girl has the potential to achieve greatness, and we are dedicated to helping them reach their goals.”

“Girls for Goals reflects our commitment to sustainable development, focusing on one community at a time. Our ultimate aim is to cultivate a generation of change-makers who can make meaningful contributions to their communities. We see Girls for Goals as a scalable model that can have a nationwide impact,” she added.

The initiative has garnered significant support from FIFA, La Guilde, GIZ, and the GFA.

According to the GFA, the launch event will be graced by dignitaries, including the District Chief Executive of Keta, the Director of Education for the Keta Municipal Assembly, representatives from the Ghana Education Service, and the Chief and Queen Mother of the Keta community.
