The fitness and nutritional support takes the form of the provision of apparels in a form of training kits, polo-Shirts, bags, and training supports and other merchandise and marketing materials valued at 30,000 euros.

Herbalife thus  becomes the 10th company to be associated with the defending league champions after headline sponsors, MTN and others.

The two- year contract makes Asante Kotoko the first African football club to benefit from a partnership with Herbalife whose parent company is based in the USA.

Currently, the company sponsors 190 world class athletes including 2014 FIFA World Best Player, Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as some selected European clubs including Valencia of Spain and German side FC Schalke.

The country director of the company, Frederick Amissah, and the CEO of Kotoko, Samuel Opoku Nti, signed the contract for their respective outfits.

Mr Amissah said the principles of healthy balanced nutrition and regular exercise were at the core of Herbalife philosophy, which was expected to be translated to transform the club and give the players the needed energy to recover quickly after each match.

Kotoko is also expected to benefit largely from the company’s top scientists mainly in the field of nutrition which are said to have worldwide endorsements.

Opoku Nti said the deal was timely for it would play a crucial role in the resurgent of the club currently led by Coach David Duncan to reclaim the top spot.
