Liberty to add to Oly’s woes?
After trashing Kumasi Asante Kotoko last Sunday to jump to the fourth position of the First Capital Plus League, Liberty Professionals seem to have sent a strong warning to rival clubs and look been fired up to add Accra Great Olympics to their victims when they clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
In their encounter with Kotoko at the Carl Reindorf Park, Liberty demonstrated a hunger for victory as they came from a goal down to dish out three beautiful goals through Latif Blessing, Kennedy Ashia and Benjamin Eli Agbeko to carry the day. Now, Coach George Lamptey’s side are primed to deepen the woes of tottering Olympics who won their first round fixture at Dansoman.

Unbeaten in their last seven matches both home and away, in-form Liberty look favourites to carry the day, especially as the Wonder Club have lost their last three matches and are without a win since defeating Wa All Stars 1-0 in Accra on March 28.
Liberty’s impressive form have been achieved on the back on fine scoring form of Ashia who has found the back on the nine times this season and a solid team effort which has provided many other scoring options for Coach Lamptey.
However, Olympics coach Yaw Acheampong is determined to end their recent slump as his injured stars, including skipper Godwin Attram, Francis Mantey and goalkeeper Richard Kingson have made full recovery to face Liberty in Sunday’s game
Another attraction is the encounter between struggling Kumasi Asante Kotoko who have not fared well in their backyard and Bechem United who are yet to win any away match this season.
Out of the nine matches played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kotoko have managed only three wins, drawing four and losing two, an unimpressive record that has incurred their displeasure of their vociferous supporters who want to see the club back in title contention.
However, there was a glimmer of hope for the Kotoko fans as the club came out strongly last Wednesday to defeat league leaders AshantiGold 2-0 in the MTN FA Cup quarter-final tie in Kumasi. It was a morale-boosting victory is expected to galvanise Kotoko’s leading marksman Ahmed Toure and his teammates to collect the three points from Bechem United.
In the other matches, struggling Heart of Lions —currently suffering a ban from their favourite Kpando park — will not find it easy against fifth-placed Berekum Chelsea at the Len clay stadium at Obuasi tomorrow, with New Edubiase United and visiting Medeama taking their turn at Obuasi the following day in a clash that is likely to end in a draw.
Impressive WAFA could return to base empty handed against sixth-placed Aduana Stars who have built a fortress at the Agyemang Badu Park where they have won eight out of 10 home games.
