Moses Armah (Mospacka) — Confident about his club’s success in Africa.

The President of Medeama, Moses Armah, declared that the trophy was their target after upholding their tradition of two-goal home project to overturn Sundowns’ 3-1 first leg deficit at Essipon to the surprise of many.

“Our target now is the trophy so we need everybody’s support to make it happen,” the soft-spoken Armah, aka Mospacka, told the Graphic Sports in an interview on Thursday.

“We thank our headline sponsor, Gold Fields Ghana Limited, for their wonderful contribution so far; but where we’ve reached we will need more support from them. I urge our other sponsor, Ghana Manganese Company to also come on board.”

“We need more support from all Ghanaians to win the cup,” he appealed.

To help achieve their target, Mospacka hinted that plans were underway to revamp the team with two potent strikers and two defenders in the coming days.

He disclosed that the club was close to sealing deals with some high-profile strikers in the country but stopped short of mentioning names for strategic reasons.

The Medeama bankroller was full of praise for the players and the technical team headed by Evans Adotey for their high level of commitment which ensured that sweet victory over the South Africans.

Goals by Malik Akowuah and Abass Mohammed guaranteed Medeama a place at the group stage via the away goals rule, while the players await a mouth-watering qualification bonus of about GH¢2,000 each.

Medeama will enter the group stage draw alongside African club giants, TP Mazembe of DR Congo, who scraped through at the expense of Stade Gabesien of Tunisia; M.O. Bejaia of Algeria, Young Africans of Tanzania, Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, FUS Rabat, Kawkab (Morocco) and Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya.

The draw is scheduled for Cairo on Tuesday, while the group stage matches commence on June 17.

Medeama made their Confederation Cup debut in 2014 but were denied qualification to the group stage by AC Leopards of Congo on penalties after tying 2-2 on aggregate.
