‘My mum Is Ghanaian, My dad Is Nigerian’: Tyrique George eligible for Black Stars, Super Eagles
Chelsea loanee Tyrique George has confirmed that he is eligible to represent both Ghana and Nigeria at international level, revealing details of his family background while speaking about his career and personal life.
The 19-year-old attacker, who joined Everton on loan from Chelsea on January transfer deadline day for the remainder of the season, made the disclosure while introducing himself and sharing insights into his upbringing and football journey.
Speaking to Everton’s official media channel, George said: “I’m Tyrique George and these are five things about me. I was born in Camden, London, and my mum is Ghanaian and my dad is Nigerian.”
The revelation confirms that the forward qualifies to play for the Black Stars of Ghana, the Super Eagles of Nigeria, as well as England’s Three Lions, having been born in the United Kingdom.
George also spoke about his versatility, outlining the various attacking roles he can perform on the pitch.
“I can play on both feet, either wing, attacking midfield or up front,” he said, while naming Neymar and Jadon Sancho as the players who inspired him growing up.
The Chelsea loanee further reflected on his experience at club level, detailing the competitions he has featured in during his time with the London side.
“At Chelsea, I played in the Champions League, Conference League and the Club World Cup,” he added.
At international level, George confirmed his long-standing involvement with England’s youth setup, having progressed steadily through the ranks.
“I started playing for England from the under-15s all the way to the under-21s,” he stated.
Away from football, the teenager offered a brief glimpse into his personal life, noting that he enjoys “watching movies and spending time with my family.”
