The 47-year-old wrestler discussed his perspective during an appearance on the "Club Shay Shay" podcast with host Shannon Sharpe on Wednesday, August 21.

When asked about his stance on having children, Cena did not hesitate. "I don't want them," he told Sharpe, explaining that his decision is rooted in a deep understanding of the commitment and investment that parenting requires.

Cena, known for his driven and often intense approach to life, admitted that his ambitions and personal goals play a significant role in his decision.

"My biggest fear is, as someone who’s driven – many times stubborn, and selfish – I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity, but I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it needs to be a great parent because I want to live life for all it is," he explained. "I still have a lot to do. And I still want to do a lot."

Cena, who is in a committed relationship, emphasized that this decision is one he and his partner have openly discussed, and they share the same values. "We’ve had open conversations about this," he said. "We share the same values."

The "Jackpot!" actor also acknowledged the societal pressures and judgments that often accompany the choice to remain child-free. He described the topic as a "tough subject" to discuss because it "immediately puts you in a category," leading to inevitable judgments from others.

"[It’s] human nature. We’re all judgmental. I’d like to believe that I operate under the construct that everyone’s okay living their life," Cena said, adding that he has been confident in his decision since he was a teenager. "My opinions only hit that gray area during emotionally difficult times. And I’m very happy with where I stand. I have a lot of joy and fulfillment in my life. And that’s pretty much where I stand on it."

Cena’s comments reflect a growing conversation among celebrities and public figures about the choice to remain child-free, challenging societal expectations and encouraging more open dialogue about the diverse paths to happiness and fulfillment.
