Access Bank Women’s Network and BoG Ladies unite for Breast Cancer Awareness and Women’s Financial Empowerment

Access Bank (Ghana) PLC’s Women Network (AWN) has partnered with the Bank of Ghana Ladies’ Association (BoGLA) to drive a joint campaign promoting breast cancer awareness and financial empowerment among women traders in Accra.

The event, held at the Accra Central Market, formed part of activities marking both Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the 60th anniversary of the Ghana cedi.

Under the theme “Pink Pride: Breast in Bra, Cedi in Purse!”, the initiative drew hundreds of traders, customers, and market women for a day of education and empowerment focused on women’s health and financial independence. Participants received guidance on breast cancer prevention and early detection, as well as practical lessons in savings, investment, and digital banking solutions designed to improve their financial well-being.

Acting President of the Access Women Network, Beverlyn Quaynor, said the collaboration reflects the organisation’s mission to empower women through knowledge and advocacy. “This campaign underscores our dedication to supporting women through advocacy, education, and empowerment. By combining breast cancer awareness with financial literacy, we are equipping women with the tools they need to live healthier, more secure lives,” Ms. Quaynor stated.

Head of Women Banking at Access Bank, Roselind Akko, reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to holistic empowerment, emphasising that true progress for women goes beyond access to finance. “At Access Bank, we understand that empowering women requires a holistic approach that addresses both their health and financial independence. Our collaboration with the Bank of Ghana Ladies Association reflects our belief that when women are healthy and financially confident, communities thrive,” she said.

The event turned the bustling market into a sea of pink, symbolising solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Health experts educated participants on self-examination and early detection, while Access Bank officials provided insights into accessible financial tools tailored for women entrepreneurs.

The collaboration between Access Bank Ghana and the Bank of Ghana Ladies’ Association reinforces their shared commitment to advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 5, which focus on Good Health and Well-being, and Gender Equality respectively.

The Access Women Network is an internal initiative of Access Bank Ghana that supports mentorship, leadership development, and empowerment opportunities for women. Through its outreach programmes, the network continues to drive gender inclusion, entrepreneurship, and health advocacy across Ghana.
