Africa must innovate and act differently – PAPSS Deputy CEO
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), John Bosco Sebabi, has stated that Africa needs to innovate and adopt new approaches.
Mr Sebabi made these remarks while speaking on the topic “Leveraging digital infrastructure, innovation and technology to connect Africa” on the second day of the three-day Africa Prosperity Dialogue (APD) 2025 conference in Accra today.
The conference is themed “Delivering Africa's single market through Infrastructure: Invest, Connect, Integrate.”
Addressing the current state of global retail payment ecosystems and Africa, the PAPSS Deputy CEO acknowledged the success of mobile money payment systems in Africa.
However, he emphasised the importance of interoperability between various African countries, noting that the interoperability platform and infrastructure are now in place and it is time for Africa to leverage them.
