Albin Akansake: Marlin Beach Resort owner named Indigenous Tourism Investment Developer of the Year
Ghana’s tourism fraternity converged at the Grand Arena in Accra on Saturday for the 2025 National Tourism Awards, a ceremony held under the theme “Celebrating Ghanaian Ingenuity and Excellence in Tourism.”
The event brought together key industry players to honour individuals and organisations driving innovation and growth within the sector.
One of the night’s most celebrated winners was Mr Albin Akansake, owner of Marlin Beach Resort, who was adjudged Indigenous Tourism Investment Developer of the Year. The award acknowledges Ghanaian entrepreneurs whose vision and investments are helping to reshape and elevate the country’s tourism landscape.
Mr Akansake’s recognition stems from the rapid rise and impact of Marlin Beach Resort, which is noted as Ghana’s first all-inclusive tourism facility. The resort has earned acclaim for its blend of modern luxury, serene coastal setting and integrated hospitality services that appeal to both domestic and international guests.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Mr Akansake expressed appreciation for the honour. “I feel honoured that the institution charged to regulate our industry has recognised my effort and how it has helped contribute to boosting Ghana’s tourism industry,” he said. He noted that the award serves as motivation to enhance standards even further.
Outlining his vision for the facility, he stressed that Marlin Beach Resort will continue to pursue excellence in service delivery and infrastructure. “The way forward is that Marlin will do its part by improving on its already good customer service to our customers, and upgrading its magnificent infrastructure to make it a final destination not just for tourists from Africa, but across the world,” he stated.
Mr Akansake also reiterated the resort’s pioneering role in the country’s hospitality sector. “Marlin Beach Resort is located at Gomoa Fetteh Nyanyano Road in the Central Region, and it is Ghana’s first ever all-inclusive resort,” he added.
