He said a full manufacturing plant in the country would create more employment and also boost trade between Ghana and India.

The high commissioner said that at the launch of Bajaj’s latest vehicle, “Bajaj Qute” (a Quadra cycle), to the Ghanaian market.

The company has been present in the country for a couple of years and has introduced two and three-wheeler cycles which are mostly patronised in the northern part of the country.

Mr Sagar said the latest addition was meant to solve the environmental problems of transportation, which include traffic congestions.

He said the Quadra cycle was the latest revolution in urban transportation.

Bajaj-Auto has so far sold over 11,000 wheelers in Ghana and hopes the market responds well to its latest product.

The Senior Vice-President, International Business of Bajaj, Mr K. S. Grihapathy, said the four-wheeled passenger carrier was aimed at offering the market both first and last mile transport solutions.

The machine has since its invention become part of the social fabric in many countries as it has an advantage of manoeuvring in urban areas because of its small sizecompared to other vehicles.

He said apart from providing effective transportsolutions, it had created employment for millions of people.

“We are now raising the bar and ushering in a new solution of transportation that is cleaner, safer and more comfortable,” he stated.

In Ghana, the Qute will be sold through Bajaj-Auto’s sole distributor, Somoco Ghana Ltd, a subsidiary of the Mohinani Group.
