Deloitte Ghana to train actuaries
Audit and Consulting firm, Deloitte Ghana, has launched an initiative to train national service persons, insurance sales agents and brokers in actuary.
This is to enable them to help transform insurance and provide efficiency in the sector.

The training which begins on October 17 will see the over 30 participants being taken through modern actuarial methodologies such as Reserving, Financial Condition
Report and International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS17).
At the launch in Accra yesterday, Partner, Assurances Services at Deloitte Ghana, Dr Kwabena Situp, told the Graphic Business that it was the beginning of an annual training programme, stressing that participants would not only join the Deloitte Actuarial team on the continent but also be part of the company’s family.
“We are not only equipping these participants who are also risk evaluators and assessors to be sharper in their skills but to train them to accurately value the risk of insurance companies and firms,’ he stated.
He added that the training would ensure participants measured risks rightly and provided a feedback which would ensure the proper evaluation of the insurances firms.
“They will learn how to pull financial condition reports together, they will also be attached to Deloitte to learn the practical aspects of actuary,” he noted.
School of Actuarial Excellence
The Country Managing Partner of Deloitte Ghana, Daniel Kwadwo Owosu, noted that the school would serve as a bedrock for individuals who were interested in actuarial activities in the country and wished to receive the best of training.

Career
The CET of Starlike Assurance, Karla Duxford, who was a guest at the launch challenged participants who will attend the school to build a career after their education to help with the industry.
“This career must be grounded in excellence, innovation and leadership,” he stated.
Transformation
Head of Reinsurance at the National Insurance Commission (NIC), Esther Arman, stated that the school would transform the insurance sector and ensure its rapid growth.
