IGP Special Operations Team undertake patrol at Bole
Seventy personnel of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team undertook a comprehensive patrol last Tuesday to maintain law and order in and around the Bole township.
The operation formed part of the peace-building process and efforts to maintain law and order within the jurisdiction and it was also aimed at ensuring that residents in the area carried out their daily routines peacefully.
Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Karim Mahama and Assistant Superintendent of Police Bawah Jalil, the team used six service vehicles and 10 service motorbikes to ensure mobility and coverage across the area.
Before the exercise, personnel were reminded to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, alertness and team coordination throughout the operation.
Blood donation
Before the exercise, the team embarked on a blood donation exercise at the Bole District Hospital.
The gesture was to support a colleague who had been admitted to the Bole District Hospital the previous day and who urgently needed a blood transfusion.
Due to inadequate supply at the hospital’s blood bank, the medical team could only administer one unit of blood to the officer as an emergency measure.
Following a swift decision by the command, the entire team voluntarily donated blood — not only to support their colleague but also to help save the lives of other patients in need of transfusion, both within and beyond the hospital’s jurisdiction.
“The humanitarian act aligns with the team’s core mandate of protecting lives and property, demonstrating the team’s unwavering commitment to public service.
Gratitude
“The hospital administration expressed profound gratitude and joy over the gesture, stating that it has been a persistent challenge to encourage community members to donate blood voluntarily,” a police report said.
The administration, it said, was particularly moved by the team’s selfless and proactive approach.
“A brief engagement session was held with the hospital, during which medical staff offered advice on healthy living, diet monitoring and general wellness.
“This was well received by the team,” it said.
The hospital, the report said, was currently reviewing the case of the admitted officer and is expected to make a final decision regarding either continuing treatment at the Bole District Hospital or referring him to the Police Hospital in Accra for further management.
After the hospital visit, the team resumed its patrol activities, visiting areas previously identified as hotspots for criminal activity, including markets, schools and jurisdictional boundaries.
The patrol was conducted without incident and the team returned to base at approximately 5:30 p.m., with no casualties reported.
“The IGP Special Operations Team remains on standby and fully committed to its duties.
The team continues to contribute effectively to the peace-building efforts and the maintenance of law and order at Bole and its environs.
“Through acts of service such as the voluntary blood donation, the team has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding lives — not only through security operations but also through humanitarian efforts that promote community health and unity,” it said.
