Demeter Ghana Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to agricultural transformation with the successful hosting of its second Farmer Field Day at Jei River Farms in Kasoa, Central Region. The event brought together smallholder and commercial farmers, distributors, retailers, industry partners, and officials from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s Directorate of Crop Services.
The platform, which has become a fixture in the agricultural calendar, provided participants with an opportunity to share knowledge, explore innovations, and engage in hands-on training designed to improve productivity and profitability.
Attendees toured Demeter’s trial farm, beginning with a specialised nursery where young crops are nurtured under optimal conditions to ensure resilience and strong growth. Demonstration plots displayed the effectiveness of products such as BM 270 maize seeds, soil health enhancers, and crop protection solutions tailored to combat pests and diseases.
Speaking at the event, Demeter Ghana Director Bartie Stagg emphasised the company’s farmer-focused approach. “We believe agricultural transformation happens in the field, side by side with farmers. Our trial farm is a living laboratory where we test, refine, and showcase practices that can make a real difference in farmers’ livelihoods,” he said.
The company’s technical team held live demonstrations on improved seed varieties, advanced soil conditioning techniques, and integrated pest management strategies. Farmers were guided through best practices on planting, fertiliser application, and disease prevention, with an emphasis on practical knowledge that could be directly transferred to their own farms.
