Akua Amoakowaa: No secrets with friends
IT seems one lesson that former beauty queen and entrepreneur, Akua Amoakowaa, has learnt is to shut up when it comes to sharing secrets with friends.
The 2011 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) winner said that she took the decision in 2018 following an unpleasant experience.
Akua’s advice comes at a time when social media in recent times has been flooded with alleged secrets shared by especially celebrity friends who have fallen out.

“I know what I am talking about because I know most of these celebs. I advised myself in 2018 not to share any secret with any friend and that has helped me a lot. If my colleagues take a cue from it, it will help them too.
“When you don’t tell your confidential stuff to your friends, how can they reveal them in the event that things turn sour between you? Some shared secrets can destroy you for the rest of your life and there are many examples we can attest to lately,” she said in an interview with Graphic Showbiz recently.
Recently, Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, made headlines when he insinuated that his former manager and friend, Bulldog, had a hand in the murder of artiste manager, Fennec Okyere’s, death in 2014. He disclosed that it was a secret his former manager had shared with him.
However, this is not the first time that once good friends have made a public spectacle of themselves on social media.
In 2016, singer Mzbel and social media influencer, Afia Schwarzenegger’s, did not only trade insults on the space but purportedly revealed dirty secrets about their way of life.
And there is Nana Tornado and Afia Schwarzenegger’s case of revealing secrets about their sexual orientation.

All these happenings may have strengthened Akua’s resolve to be wary of confiding in her friends.
“Some friends come into your lives just for their benefit. Once they get what they want, they leave. Such friends will stop at nothing to reveal whatever you shared when the friendship ends. Celebrities just have to be careful about the kind of friends they keep to save their brands”, she said.

Away from that, Akua is gearing up for the finals of her Miss Golden Stool, scheduled to come off on November 20 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
“Everything is in place for the fourth edition of Miss Golden Stool which aims at upholding the rich culture and traditional heritage of Akans. Fifteen beautiful ladies took part in the competition but six of them made it to the finals and I can’t wait to see who wears the crown on the day,” she added.
