Matilda: I’m funny for my fans
The 28 year -old actress holds a first degree in Human Resource Management she obtained from Ghana Baptist University College in Kumasi.
According to her, she did not hesitate to bring out her God given talent when she realized it and without wasting time, she went to register with Miracle Films in 2005. The first movie that outdoored her talent was Secret Rivals and since then it has been from one movie set to another.
Speaking about why she has not been seen in any of the English language movies Matilda said she has plans of acting in those movies but she has realised that, to act in such movies, she has to re-locate to Accra. “I can easily act in English as well as I do in Twi but I like the local style better because people like it and they always demand for more”, she said.
Since 2005, the many movies that she has played in include April Fool, Roman Father, Ghana Police, Free Education, Fatia Fata Nkrumah, Begro, Osoro Bambo, Awudisem, Ka Aempa, and Owu Ne Abrabo.
Matilda did not mince words about the rewards of the job. “Acting movies is good business because there is money in it and I have no plans leaving, not now”. She said she would forge ahead to get to the top and make her fans proud.
The mother of a two year old son who is in a serious relationship told Showbiz that, one thing that she is not happy with in the industry is the lack of investors. “There are only a few investors in the industry and I appeal that more investors should come in so that the local movie industry can grow and expand”.
Asked about her advice to up-and-coming actresses, Matilda said “they should not rush into stardom by going through all kinds of backdoor channels, rather they should work hard, be determined, relax and they should also ask questions and be told what and how things are done in the industry”.
