Reggae artiste OSAGYEFO has been honoured with a Humanitarian Award for his contribution to improving the lives of people in Okurase in the Eastern Region.
The award was presented at the 20th anniversary celebration of Project Okurase, an initiative that has supported education, healthcare and community development in the area over the past two decades.
The ceremony brought together volunteers from the United States, traditional leaders, government officials, residents and other stakeholders.
Organisers said OSAGYEFO was honoured for his continued support for the Okurase community, particularly his efforts to fund the education of brilliant but needy students and provide assistance aimed at improving the welfare and livelihoods of residents.
For over 10 years, he has sponsored the education of more than 10 students at both secondary and tertiary schools.
Receiving the award, the Reggae artiste thanked the organisers for the recognition, saying it encouraged him to continue supporting initiatives that improve people's lives, particularly in education and the welfare of vulnerable groups.
“I am deeply grateful for this honour. It reminds me that beyond music, we have a responsibility to use whatever influence and resources we have to make a difference in the lives of others,” he said.
“Supporting education and the welfare of people in Okurase is something I am passionate about, and this recognition encourages me to do even more,” he said.
The celebration featured cultural performances, goodwill messages and presentations highlighting Project Okurase's achievements over the past 20 years.
Individuals and organisations whose contributions have helped the project over the years were also recognised during the ceremony.
