Ghanaian content creator Kobby Kyei has recounted how dancehall artiste Stonebwoy unexpectedly supported him financially to acquire his first car
According to Kobby Kyei, the gesture came after he met Stonebwoy during a music video shoot, where the artiste expressed admiration for his social media content.
In a video shared on X and sighted by Graphic Showbiz on September 2, 2026, Kobby Kyei said the encounter led to an exchange of contacts.
“I met Stonebwoy during a shoot of a music video. I went to shoot a behind-the-scenes. After the music video shoot, we were all chatting, and he even told those around him how much he loved my content.
“He said I would go far in what I was doing. We exchanged numbers, and when I got home, I texted him,” he recounted.
Kobby Kyei explained that during one of their subsequent conversations, he shared his plans to visit villages and support people living in deprived communities.
However, he told Stonebwoy that one challenge he faced was not having a car to make the initiative easier.
He said Stonebwoy then asked for his mobile money number and, before ending the call, sent him money to buy his first car.
“When I was chatting with him, I told him my plan of going to the villages to help the deprived people, but I didn’t have a car.
“He called me on the phone, and that was the longest time I had spoken with him on the phone. During the conversation, he asked for my mobile money number.
“Before the call ended, he asked me to check my wallet; he had sent me money to buy my first car. He was like, that is a contribution. So, Stonebwoy contributed to buying my first car,” he added.
