Choice of Running Mate - A shot in NDC’s own foot?
Barely five months to the general polls in Ghana, the opposition NDC has finally settled on a running mate: Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman. I will use this opportunity to congratulate her for the nomination. With this appointment, is it not the case that the opposition NDC Party has shot itself in the foot with this choice in their quest to win power?
What happened to Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, who had been adjudged an obvious nomination for the ticket? Could it be true that Dr. Kwesi Botchwey didn’t believe in the candidature of John Mahama in winning power, and thus rejected the offer?
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor was the other closest alternative. Dr. Duffuor has firm grips in finance, having worked as Governor of Bank of Ghana and Minister of Finance. He possesses the desired competence for that position. Is it true that he was not selected and was rejected by the council of elders because of the crisis surrounding him and his weak physical energy?

Talking about Alex Mould too, the personality who felt he who could match Dr. Bawumia for that high office, was he any way special? Other options included Awuah Darko, an accomplished finance person.
After all the deliberations, the choice has fallen on Professor Naana Opoku-Agyeman. Does the Professor know anything about economic management where she would have to chair, as required by law? Can she match Dr. Bawumia at any level? Is it not true that one thing she does well is to speak grammar, which Dr. Bawumia does as well? Was she a signee to the Montie trio unfortunate petition and is it also true she once presided over the failed progressively free SHS project? In the event that NDC loses the 2020 election which looks eminent, will there be any future for the party?
Can’t a conclusion be drawn that the NDC has shot themselves in their own foot?
