Price of shelter in recovering economy, when work is not enough

Ghana’s recovery means little if shelter remains unaffordable.
In many communities, a single room costs over GH¢1,000, often with one to two years’ rent demanded upfront.
Yet many workers earn between GH¢2,000 and GH¢3,000 a month.
When rent consumes most of one’s income, survival replaces stability.
Reform must address both advance payments and unrealistic pricing.
Economic progress should be felt in homes, not just in statistics.
Ghana’s recovery means little if shelter remains unaffordable.
