Why no receipts at Ho’s Births and Deaths Registry?
Every credible institution I know issues a receipt after customers make payments, but the Births and Deaths Registry in Ho does not do this.
After making payment and demanding a receipt, I was told that was not part of their practice.
It has also become clear to me that after applying for a biometric birth certificate for a friend for over one year, coupled with numerous follow-ups, it may take forever for me to receive what I paid for.
My problem is that without a receipt, how do I prove to my friend that I have indeed paid for the certificate, especially now that I am being tossed up and down?
When I tried to get a clearer understanding of what was happening, the registrar became offended and threatened to refund the GH¢50 I had paid.
I am still waiting for that refund.
I can no longer allow this issue to rest in my bosom, hence my decision to draw the attention of authorities to stop them from taking people for granted.
