    The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, has filed an application  asking the Supreme Court to overturn its decision which put on hold the Speaker’s ruling declaring four seats in Parliament vacant.

  • SHS placement for 2024 released; 447,698 students on automatic admissions list

    The Ministry of Education has released the 2024/25 placement results for Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions.

    A statement from the Ministry of Education indicated that out of the 563,339 results received from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), 553,155 candidates qualified to be placed and that a total of 447,698 (80.93%) qualified candidates were automatically placed in one of their choices.

    In the latest twist of their sensational fashion feud, Ajagurajah visited Osebo’s shop on Monday, October 28, 2024, demanding an end to their escalating fashion standoff—or else, he warned, serious consequences would follow.

    Unfazed, Osebo retorted that if pushed further, he would “wear a G-string,” playfully dismissing Ajagurajah’s plea to end their fashion face-off.

    Working towards December 7, Flagbearers and political parties have spent resources producing manifestos (sometimes plagiarized),  and crisscrossed the country trying to persuade the voter with ‘Wiase ayɛ den’ slogans, petrol prices, Free SHS, Pot Holes, Digitalization, etc.

    After all such homework done to please the voter, political parties realize to their dismay that a key factor driving choices this year could simply be, ‘Paluta Eee.’

  • Printing of ballot papers: EC replaces Yasarko Press following faulty equipment

    The Electoral Commission has replaced Yasarko Press with two other printing firms following a faulty equipment during the printing of ballot papers for Election 2024.

    Yasarko Press had been assigned to print the Presidential and Parliamentary Ballot Papers for the Oti and Western North regions.

    However, in the course of last week, the management of Yasarko Press indicated to the Electoral Commission that, one of their critical equipment for the printing of Ballot Papers had developed a fault.

    Following that, it was therefore agreed by both institutions that Yasarko should opt out of the printing of the 2024 Ballots.

    The drugs haul was discovered by border force officers inside a shipping container at Tilbury Docks following a National Crime Agency sting.

    All four men were sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on October 18, 2024.
