The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and its citizens across the globe celebrated the 95th National Day with a display of unity, pride, and heritage, under the slogan "Pride in Our Nature” The day marks a significant historical milestone: the unification of the country.
The day commemorates the royal decree issued by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud on September 23, 1932, which officially renamed the country the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Since then, the National Day has grown into one of the most essential occasions in the Saudi calendar, blending patriotic pride with cultural traditions and modern achievements.
As the Kingdom celebrates its 95th year, it continues its remarkable journey of progress, building on the foundation laid by King Abdulaziz. Guided by the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030 and led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the nation is advancing confidently on the path of sustainable development.
International standing
Over the decades, Saudi Arabia has solidified its international standing, becoming a leading model for economic and social renaissance.
The nation's identity, rooted in the principles of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, has enabled it to achieve unprecedented growth and innovation.
National Day is a powerful symbol of pride and belonging, reinforcing the deep sense of loyalty felt by citizens, residents, and visitors alike as they witness a comprehensive transformation in quality of life, infrastructure, and global influence.
The celebration also serves as a time to honour the life of King Abdulaziz, who dedicated himself to unifying the Arabian Peninsula.
At a time of conflict and hardship, he brought peace and prosperity, laying the groundwork for a secure and resource-rich nation.
The turning point in this journey was the recapture of Riyadh on January 15, 1902, an event that marked the beginning of the unification process.
Unity
After uniting the various regions, King Abdulaziz consolidated his power and, driven by popular demand, formally unified the name of the state.
Following extensive consultations with the public, the name was officially changed from the "Kingdom of Hejaz and Najd and its Dependencies" to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In Ghana, the celebration was spearheaded by the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Mr Sultan Abdulrahman Al Dakhel, who stated that as they celebrate this significant milestone in the history of the Kingdom, they also take pride in the strong and historic ties that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Ghana.
Our bilateral relations, grounded in mutual respect and enduring friendship, continue to witness growth and cooperation across various sectors, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is proud to be Ghana’s oldest bilateral partner from the Arabian Gulf region.
Bond of faith
One of the most profound and enduring bonds that unite people across the world is the bond of faith and belief. Islam is a religion of mercy, brotherhood, and peace, and at the heart of that unity lie the Holy Sites of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Every day, Muslims across the globe turn their faces in prayer toward the Kaaba five times a day and night, forging a strong spiritual connection with the Kingdom further deepened through the annual Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
Tremendous efforts are being made continuously to ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals with ease, comfort and safety and with peace of mind, and to protect their whole lives and beautiful memories from their spiritual journey.
Two holy mosques
The Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, spare no effort in enhancing and expanding the services provided to the guests of Allah.
Tremendous work is undertaken continuously to ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals with ease, comfort, safety, and peace of mind, and to return to their homelands with beautiful memories of their spiritual journey.
In parallel with these religious ties, the relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Ghana has witnessed steady development through close coordination, the exchange of mutual interests, and the signing and discussion of various agreements and memoranda of understanding. Initiatives in the fields of investment, development, and service delivery continue to drive our cooperation forward.
Investors
He encouraged businessmen and investors from both countries to explore the wide array of investment opportunities available, whether through mutual visits or through modern digital platforms that facilitate communication and partnership.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, who represented the government congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the people of Saudi Arabia on the milestone.
Describing Saudi Arabia as a long-standing partner of Ghana, recalling the Kingdom’s contributions to socio-economic development through the Saudi Fund for Development and other initiatives in energy, water supply, education, health, and infrastructure noting that the country highly appreciates the increased quota granted for Ghanaian pilgrims during the most recent Hajj season, describing it as a gesture that strengthened the bonds of fraternity between the two peoples.
Working together
He assured the Kingdom of the Ghana’s readiness to continue working together, both bilaterally and multilaterally, to promote peace, security, and sustainable development globally stressing that Ghana and Saudi Arabia share converging priorities in digital transformation, renewable energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and investment promotion.
“I am confident that the business communities of both countries will seize the opportunities offered by Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 agenda and Ghana’s national development programmes to forge stronger commercial partnerships,” he noted.
