Tanyigbe SHS gets Cadet Corps
The Tanyigbe Senior High School in the Ho Municipality now has a 46-member military cadet corps trained by the 66 Artillery Regiment at the Volta Barracks in Ho.
According to the Headmistress of the school, Mrs Agnes Afesi-Afonu, staff and students of the school made voluntary contributions in addition to internally generated funds to raise funds for the procurement of uniforms and other necessities for the cadet corps.
The reviewing officer of the inaugural parade, Lieutenant Ransford Oppong of the 66th Artillery Regiment advised the cadet corps to apply the training offered them to uphold discipline because that was the cornerstone for success in life.
He also advised them against the misuse of the uniform for operations which were unauthorised adding that it should be used to motivate other students and the community.
In an address read on his behalf by Mr Albert Amenuve, a Deputy Director of Education in charge of human resource at the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ho office, the Volta Regional Director of the GES, Mr Emmanuel Ketteku, said the formation of the cadet corps had provided the opportunity for the holistic development of the students and added that it would contribute to bringing up disciplined young people who are imbibed with qualities such as leadership, loyalty, devotion to duty, self respect and civic responsibility.
For his part, the assembly member for the area, Mr Amorin Koto, extended gratitude to all those who had assisted in establishing the cadet corps for the school.
