Music from the live band and Gifty Adorye kept the women on their feet, with the  cocktail bar by Veuve du Vernay being a favourite spot at the  15th edition of the Ghana Women Awards (GWAF) held in Accra last Sunday.

The attendees, especially the women who were honoured, came suitably dressed for the occasion.

With the exception of the women in the security services who came in their official uniforms, all other award winners came to the event in evening wears fit for the occasion.

Since its inception in 2009, the event, organised by the Brein Consult, has celebrated women and mothers for the roles they play.

A highlight of this year’s event was the launch of GWAF’s 'Mother and Child Care Fund’, which will support mothers and newborns detained in hospitals due to unpaid medical bills.

An independent presidential candidate, Mr George Twum-Barima-Aduan, who launched the fund donated a seed money of GHc 50,000 and other guests making pledges.
