Modernise training content - Prof. Oduro urges CIAMC
The Technical Advisor to the Minister for Education, Professor George Kweku Toku Oduro, has called on the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CIAMC) Ghana to modernise its training content to reflect the demands of 21st-century administrative functions.
He stressed that the rapid evolution of information and communication technology required administrators to adapt swiftly, develop digital competencies, and uphold professional ethics to remain relevant and effective in a dynamic administrative landscape.
"It is important that the institute considers 21st-century requirements in any review of its training content to ensure administrators are abreast of current technological tools and trends," he noted.
Prof. Oduro was speaking at the launch of the 25th anniversary of CIAMC and the 7th Annual Administrators’ Conference in Tamale, which was on the theme, “The Power of Adaptability: Thriving in a dynamic administrative landscape”.
It brought together administrators from academia, professional practice and various industries to explore strategies for navigating the evolving administrative environment.
The event created a platform for participants to understand the numerous factors affecting organisations and businesses, and to encourage the development of flexibility in adapting to change.
Discussions also highlighted the importance of effective and efficient systems in enhancing operational performance and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
Innovation
In his remarks, Prof. Oduro underscored the growing demand for administrators and managers to stay informed on contemporary issues related to their roles.
He urged the administrators to uphold the principles of public interest and remain committed to non-partisan service delivery.
Technological advancement
Delivering a speech on behalf of the Northern Regional Minister, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Adam Abubakari Takoro, emphasised the impact of rapid technological advancement and shifting institutional structures.
“Capacity building, ethical leadership, innovation and cross-functional teamwork are essential in today’s administrative landscape,” he said.
He highlighted the government's 24-Hour Economy initiative as a key opportunity that required administrative support to boost productivity, job creation, and service delivery, urging the administrators to actively engage with such initiatives and contribute meaningfully to their implementation.
Professional development
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of CIAMC, Dr Samuel Mawusi Asafo, commended the participants for their commitment to professional development.
He said, “As we digitise our processes, I encourage members to enhance their skills while remaining conscious of ethical standards.
We must ensure the integrity of information sourced from AI, as ours is a scholarly profession”.
