The Tema Lube Oil Company Ltd (TLOC) has handed over a refurbished physics laboratory of the Tema Secondary School in the Tema West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region to the management of the school.

The physics laboratory has undergone major renovations, including the replacement of obsolete fittings with new ones and the supply of modern equipment, at an estimated cost of GH¢400,000.00, to enhance the teaching and learning of science in the school.

At a ceremony to hand over the facility to the school last Tuesday, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TLOC, Kodjo Nunekpeku, said the initiative formed part of the company's broader efforts to promote quality education, particularly in th Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields, adding that it aligned with TLOC's vision of excellence, efficiency, and environmental friendliness.

He explained that the refurbished laboratory aimed to inspire creativity, innovation, and practical learning among students, equipping them with skills that would benefit them and society.

"This project is part of Tema Lube Oil's ongoing efforts to give back to the community and invest in Ghana's future," he said.

He said the company had a history of supporting various institutions and communities through its corporate social initiatives, adding that some of its notable contributions included donating ICT laboratory equipment to the Tema Presbyterian Day Senior High School and providing a fully stocked science laboratory for Chemu Senior High Technical School.

He said the company regarded its latest intervention as a lasting contribution to advancing STEM education in Ghana and empowering the next generation of scientists, engineers and problem-solvers.

The Headmistress of the school, Lucy Nai, thanked TLOC for their efforts to support science education at the secondary level, indicating that the project was one of the key needs of the school.

She said the refurbished laboratory would inspire creativity, innovation, practical learning and equip students with skills that would benefit them and society.
