OWASS wins breast cancer debate in Kumasi
Opoku Ware Senior High School (OWASS) has hosted and won the 63rd Independence Day anniversary debate on Breast Cancer awareness held in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.OWASS beat the defending champions, St Hubert Senior High School, to win the competition.
Barekese SHS and Boakye Yiadom SHS placed third and fourth positions, respectively.

Finalists
The first three finalists have been selected to contest in the national debate, which is scheduled for a later date in Accra.
In all, 16 selected schools in the region participated in the competition.
It was organised by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with Breast Care International (BCI).
Breast care
The President of BCI, Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, advised the students to get screened and be more concerned about their health status.
“Screening is very important as it leads to early detection and treatment, which results in more lives being saved,” she told the students.
Mrs Wiafe-Addai told them breast cancer was not a disease for only women but could affect men as well.
Furthermore, she appealed to breast cancer survivors to come out to educate others on the disease to prevent people from contracting the disease.
