The event, on the theme: “Gardening for Value: Health, Beauty, Job and Income,” seeks to create awareness of the commercial and psychological benefits of urban beautification and gardening.

It is also designed to promote tourism, healthier modern lifestyles, and to create employment and income-earning opportunities to support Ghana’s development.

Launching the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Stratcomm Africa, Ms Esther Cobbah, said the event, initially planned for four days, had been extended to eight days following requests by exhibitors and participants.

She also said Stratcomm was pleased that shortly after the launch of its 20th anniversary, it was holding the show and expressed optimism that the event would help create awareness of the country’s abundant natural resources and promote it as a compelling investment destination.

The Managing Director of Floben’s Creation, Madam Florence Benson, said the event would address the challenges facing gardening as an income-generating venture in the country.

“Ghana has the right conditions to help it become a major exporter but sadly, we seem to import many of the flowers we use in Ghana when the country can develop abundant fertile lands to plant flowers,” she noted.

A representative of Access Bank, Mr Steven Abban, said the event was aligned with their banking philosophy to promote the global concerns of the environment in the country.

He gave the assurance that the bank would support efforts at making the event a success and commended the organisation for its effort to promote a healthier environment in the country.
