Book of condolence opened for late Gbawe chief
The family and kingmakers of Gbawe have opened a book of condolence at the palace for the late chief, Nii Laryea Faamlite II, who died on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.
Confirming the death of the chief, the Secretary of the family, Mr Solomon Nii Afutu Quartey announced that in line with customs, red flags will be erected in the principal streets of Gbawe and other areas within the jurisdiction.
Addressing the media, Quartey explained that a committee has been formed by the family to put together a befitting burial for the late chief.
“We are here to announce to you that the family has lost a big personality. Our chief passed on last month and according to customs, we have to wait to make an official announcement,” he said.
“What we are doing now is to confirm his death and to make arrangements for his burial. I can tell you that the family has put a committee together to ensure a befitting burial for our departed chief,” Quartey added.
Nii Laryea Faamlite II according to family records was enstooled as chief of Gbawe in 1994 and ruled for 16 years. He died aged 72.
The family is expected to name his successor as soon as possible according to customs and Mr Quartey has assured that it is going to a peaceful event.
“We don’t have a problem enstooling a new chief and the kingmakers are ready to take care of that. I can assure you that the process will be peaceful at the end,” he said.
