Dangote Cement to recruit 1,000 workers
Dangote Cement Ghana Limited has begun an exercise to recruit 1,000 more Ghanaians into full- time employment by the end of July this year.

The Media Relations Manager of the company, Mr Etornam Komla Buami, told the Daily Graphic at the Tema factory last Friday that the company, owned by Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, was embarking on an expansion programme that required it to undertake a massive recruitment exercise.
He said most of the jobs would be reserved for drivers.
As part of the expansion programme, Mr Buami said 1,000 brand-new trucks would soon be added to the company’s fleet of vehicles and each of the newly recruited drivers would be assigned to one truck.
The recruitment exercise - one of the single largest to be undertaken by a private company in the country - would increase the current staff strength of the company to 1,700.
Mr Buami said, “We’ve started the recruitment exercise and by the end of July, all of the drivers will be on board.”
He said many indirect jobs would also be created in the expansion programme. He indicated that Mr Dangote’s objective of contributing to Ghana’s economic growth through job creation and honouring tax obligations was on course.
Dangote Cement has also increased its storage capacity at its terminal in Tema to purposefully serve the growing demands for its cement brand. Meanwhile, work on the company’s $100 million Takoradi plant is expected to be completed next year.

According to the media relations manager for Dangote Cement, the company’s product is doing well on the market and that many building contractors prefer using “our highest cement grade of 42.5R”.
He said the presence of Dangote cement on the Ghanaian market had contributed significantly to stabilising the price of cement on the market.
Illegal strike
Touching on recent reports of an illegal strike by workers of the company, Mr Buami said the facts were misrepresented by the media.
According to him, the workers were demanding the implementation of a new salary structure which had been worked on already and was awaiting final approval before its implementation.
He said the workers accepted the explanation and went back to work following management’s explanation.
